YEREVAN. – A total of 32 Armenians—seven of whom, soldiers—have lost their lives over the course of the ongoing conflict in Syria, Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan stated at the National Assembly (NA) on Thursday. 

From these victims, five are women, 26 are men, and there is one child. Five were killed in Damascus, 19 in Aleppo, one in Deir ez-Zor, one in Qamishli, and two in Mouss.    

Hakobyan also informed that the tense situation continues in Syria and more than thirty civilians have died as a result of recent bomb attacks, but there are no Armenians among the victims. 

In his turn, MP Samvel Farmanyan proposed that the parliament members’ October salaries be transferred to the Syrian-Armenian Relief Fund. And NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov announced that the ruling Republican Party’s NA Faction already decided to transfer a part of their salaries to the fund.    

The Diaspora Minister further informed that a united Armenian organization is formed in Syria, and it takes care of the affairs of the country’s Armenian community.
