ETCHMIADZIN. – The dome of the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin will be restored, Father Vahram Melikyan, Head of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, told Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

In recent days the visitors have noticed the construction scaffolds atop the Cathedral. 

In Father Melikyan’s words, no repair or construction work is underway as of yet. “The condition of the Mother Cathedral’s roofing tiles is being checked under the headship of the Catholicos of All Armenians [Karekin II]. Specialists from Italy have been invited as well and, based on the results of the joint studies with Armenian specialists, preventive and repair works will be carried out to protect the Cathedral’s roofing and dome from any kind of decay,” Father Vahram Melikyan informed.
