YEREVAN. – In all likelihood, Russian Federation (RF) President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Armenia will take place either late October, or early November, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.   

“According to our sources, [Armenian capital city] Yerevan’s former mayor Karen Karapetyan likewise will visit Armenia as part of the RF President’s delegation. And the matter of appointing Karen Karapetyan [as Armenia’s next] PM will be discussed with Putin during this visit. 

The Government sources, however, inform that the PM’s change will take place solely after the forthcoming presidential elections [in February]. [But] If [President] Serzh Sargsyan does not succeed in making the [Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP announce about supporting him [in the elections], he will have to change the PM before the presidential elections. [And] Karen Karapetyan is an acceptable prime ministerial candidate both for the [ruling Republican Party] RPA and PAP,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
