YEREVAN.- Minimum wages in Armenia will be doubled in five years, Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan said during Tuesday discussions in the Armenian parliament.
Under a new bill it is offered to raise minimum wages to AMD 35,000 starting from January 1, 2013. The Minister said minimum wages should be raised gradually reaching 40,000 in 2014.
The medium-term expenditure strategy of the Armenian government provides for doubling the minimum wage during three years.
