Former Iranian Embassy Consul in Oslo Mohammad Reza Heydari informed of his intention to claim political asylum in Norway.

He left the post in the beginning of 2010 reasoning by brutal suppression of post-electoral demonstrations in December, 2009 in Tehran. However, Norwegian media report of Heydari’s possible return to Iran. Nonetheless, the diplomat made a decision to stay temporarily in Norway for the security of his family and children in particular, Golos Rossii says.

Heydari served in Iranian Embassy to Oslo for 2 years after assuming the duties in Germany and Georgia.
