YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will not resign from office in order to head President, and ruling Republican Party (RPA) leader, Serzh Sargsyan’s campaign headquarters for February’s presidential elections, the NA Speaker’s press secretary Gohar Poghosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

In his turn, NA Deputy Speaker and RPA Spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the campaign headquarters is being established and it will start operations within the order and time prescribed by law. Name of the headquarters’ deputy chief and his functions will be determined once the headquarters is established.     

In the press secretary’s words, organizational activities are underway in connection with the delegates to the RPA congress which is slated for December 15. Around 40-50 percent of them are elected and the rest will be chosen no later than November 15, and, subsequently, they will commence the establishment of the headquarters.  

To note, National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan will head President Serzh Sargsyan’s campaign headquarters for next year’s presidential elections. Sargsyan nominated Abrahamyan to this post and the nomination was unanimously approved.
