YEREVAN. – According to rumors being spread in Armenia’s National Assembly (NA), the opposition Heritage Faction is planning on recalling from the interparliamentary groups and commissions the faction MPs, Free Democrats Party Chairman Khachatur Kokobelyan and party member—and former FM—Alexander Arzumanyan, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“Our reporter asked Heritage Faction leader Ruben Hakobyan as to whether such thing could occur. He responded: ‘Yes, such thing could happen, but we will give a more precise answer to that question at the end of the week,’” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the opposition Free Democrats took part in the May 6 National Assembly elections together with the fellow opposition Heritage Party, and with a single list. As a result, Free Democrats leader Khachatur Kokobelyan and party member Alexander Arzumanyan were elected into Parliament. But, sometime thereafter, a conflict arose between the two parties. In the outcome, MPs Kokobelyan and Arzumanyan announced that even though they will formally remain members of the NA Heritage Faction, they will function independently and not represent the faction’s positions.
