YEREVAN.- Armenian parliament is debating on Tuesday amendments to the Administrative Procedure Code.

One of the points discussed is an amount of the penalty imposed for violation of the rules governing the owning or keeping of pets in urban communities. The penalty at the rate of 5-10 minimum wages may be imposed.

Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan said that previously the penalties, prescribed by the Code, referred only to cats and dogs, now the proposed amendments all referring to all domesticated animals.

If the proposed amendments are adopted, the fines for violating the rules of keeping domesticated animals will increase.

In case the pet causes damage to another person’s property, the penalty at the rate of 15-20 minimum wages will be imposed.
