YEREVAN. – Armenia’s second largest political party cannot boycott elections, Education Minister Armen Ashotyan told reporters.

Prosperous Armenia Party’s decision not to participate in the elections is not a boycott, Ashotyan believes.

“I am sure many PAP members will support Republican candidate with heart and soul,” the Minister said.

Prosperous Armenia announced its decision on Wednesday. The party led by Gagik Tsarukyan will neither participate in the elections, nor support any of the candidates, they said in a statement.

Ashotyan noted Republican Party of Armenia is actively preparing for the party’s congress. Other political party’s decisions are not a priority for RPA but are definitely respected, he assured.
