YEREVAN.- It is a pity Prosperous Armenia leader decided to abandon elections. If nominated, there could be a real competition, political field would become bipolar, Armenian sociologist said.

His participation would make elections more democratic, Aharon Adibekyan told reporters on Thursday.

“Incumbent president is likely to win the first-round vote. There is no equal candidate either in charisma, nor financial resources. In comparison with leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian and leader of the Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Gagik Tsarukyan had more chances to become an alternative to the incumbent president,” he said.

Sociologist explains Gagik Tsarukyan’s move by lack of support of the opposition. Consequently, the party did not pledge support for any candidate.
