YEREVAN. – Armenia’s road to independence was not easy, but it is no longer acceptable to blame the adverse phenomena from the past and the state being young for the shortfalls and the current problems in the country, President Serzh Sargsyan stated Saturday addressing the 14th special congress of the ruling Republican Party (RPA).

Sargsyan presented his election program—whose slogan is “Toward a Secure Armenia”—for the presidential elections that will be conducted on February 18, 2013.

The President, and RPA leader, noted that criticisms are normal, and expressed a conviction that criticisms are made for the desire to see a better Armenia.

“Together we will be able to establish that country which will be competitive also with respect to offering adequate welfare to its citizens and will make meaningless any desire to earn a living abroad, and which will call upon in dignity to its children: Return to secure Armenia!” Sargsyan noted.

Armenia’s President added: “I assure [you that] we will live in a much better Armenia in 2018. And we will take firm steps on that road, on the road that leads to a secure Armenia!”
