YEREVAN. – Existence of a strong alternative candidate for the next president would have been useful from the point of competition, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Karen Karapetyan told the journalists on Saturday following the 14th RPA snap session.

“When the rest of the candidates are weak in power, I apologize for the balloting candidates, but no one is equal to the incumbent President and the RPA presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan, while in this case political processes lose the logic,” he said.

Asked what would have changed in case Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan was nominated, he said that [in politics] it is never right to say who will be stronger as processes do reveal everything.

In addition, Sargsyan and Tsarukyan are in good relations and the MP has never noticed any presidential ambitions in Tsarukyan.
