YEREVAN.- Former FM and member of Prosperous Armenia Party Vartan Oskanian commented on the interception of his conversation with the opposition Armenian National Congress bloc MP Levon Zurabyan.

In his statement Oskanian said that as Armenian citizens, MPs and politicians, they had the right to meet anywhere and speak on different topics.

“A sensation is that two MPs are persecuted and state funds are spent on wiretapping,” Oskanian said.

Oskanian called the incident “unacceptable and illegal.” The law enforcers must bring to responsibility those who wiretapped and disseminated the conversation, he added.  

The conversation between Zurabyan and Oskanian was posted on Youtube by anonymous user. The main topics covered were ANC members’ attitude towards cooperation with PAP, upcoming presidential elections and possible nomination of a candidate from ANC. After being posted on Youtube, the recording was spread by media outlets.

Levon Zurabyan and ANC member Nikol Pashinyan accused NSS of wiretapping and spreading of personal conversations which contradicts the Constitution.
