In line with the rating list of the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), Azerbaijan is among the top ten most militarized countries in the world. Armenia is ranked 23rd in this list.  

“Considering the increase in the military potential of the two parties [that is, Armenia and Azerbaijan], the diplomatic rhetoric, and the threat of a resumption of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the time has come to strengthen the preventive measures and holding disarmament talks,” BICC specifically states.     

To note, the ratio between the GDP and the level of military spending of a given country is one of the key indicators for the forming of this list.  

As a result, and as per the Bonn International Center for Conversion, the world’s top ten most militarized countries are as follows: 1. Israel; 2. Singapore; 3. Syria; 4. Russia; 5. Jordan; 6. Cyprus; 7. Kuwait; 8. Azerbaijan; 9. Bahrain; and 10. Saudi Arabia.

And the world’s least most militarized countries are: Madagascar, Niger, Jamaica, Ghana, and Mauritius.
