YEREVAN. – The task of Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party in next February’s presidential elections will be to not permit the authorities to easily reproduce, and to participate—by all possible means—so that an alternative is formed, party vice-chairman Armen Martirosyan stated during a press conference on Tuesday. 

In his words, Heritage’s Chairman Raffi Hovannisian has less “weak spots” than the other presidential hopefuls, he is not economically dependent on anyone, he has not partaken in the privatization loot, and he has not made any shadowy arrangements.       

“In political terms, he has the plus-points of a uniting candidate,” Martirosyan added.  

He noted that the more active Armenia’s body politic becomes, the presidential elections will be that much more heated. And he stated that if the society takes active part in the elections, there could even be a presidential runoff.
