YEREVAN.- Armenian President’s speech delivered during the Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) congress was a statement of a leader committed to democratic values.

Spokesperson for RPA Eduard Sharmazanov commented for Armenian News-NEWS.am on the key points of president’s statement.

“In his speech, president praised Armenia’s achievements since its independence, noting the achievements of the first years, the time of struggle, hunger and cold.  He touched upon the influence of global crisis and economic growth. Speaking about neglects, head of the state did not criticize anyone, noting that we stand behind the problems,” Sharmazanov said.

The second important point in Serzh Sargsyan’s speech was that Armenia tried to mitigate consequences of the global crisis.

“He was honest to accept that the work was not sufficient and further efforts are needed. The key point is a message that no one will be able to encroach on freedom of speech and work of journalists. Mass media and pluralism is a guarantee of secure Armenia,” he emphasized.
