YEREVAN. – Parliamentary opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) MP Hrant Bagratyan’s nomination – apart from the ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s candidacy – will provide for the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan’s legitimate re-election, expert Stepan Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am adding lots of candidates will ballot.
At the same time he approved the variety of candidates for the next president as otherwise due to lack of real competition, Sargsyan would have won by a large margin.
“Nomination of candidates which will have only 2 to 3 percent of votes is very important and positive for the image of the country. They know that they are not going to win in the elections but they simply legitimize the re-election of the incumbent President,” he said.
Earlier the agency informed that ANC MP, former PM Hrant Bagratyan intends to ballot for the next president.
