YEREVAN. – The decision of the Armenian First President and leader of the parliamentary opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrosyan concerning not partaking in the next presidential elections was likely to forecast due to election campaign start, expert Alexander Markarov told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the decision made by Ter-Petrosyan on Tuesday.

“Accounting for the political reality and the role and weight of Ter-Petrosyan in the past political period of Armenia, it was a rational decision,” he told.

According to him, it is linked to the rating of the ANC and especially the decrease of personal rating of the bloc leader since 2008. As for the ANC, it is necessary to observe the bloc’s structure in its dynamics. At the same time, the expert believes that the ANC electorate is not going to vote for any candidate.
