Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan told the journalists that overall in 2012 the Armed Forces of Armenia made progress in terms of reforms and maintaining the previous year’s success.
According to him, last year was the best in terms of improving discipline, and in 2012 it was very important to maintain the success, because often people, when they get what they want, stop trying to keep it, and as a result the number of problems increases.
Following the tradition of previous years on December 31, this year also Armenia’s commander in chief, the president of the country, and the defense minister will visit the lines of contact, villages near the border, will greet for the holidays the villagers living on the border, and soldiers protecting the border. As the Minister assured, attention will be paid to families whose loved ones died on duty. Currently in the army still a variety of emergencies happen - security breaches, incidents in interpersonal relationships - Seyran Ohanyan said, assuring that everything is being done to prevent such incidents.
“We have a high commitment to declare 2013 a year of struggle against negative phenomena and to minimize their number,” the minister said.
