YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, who is currently in Brussels, on Wednesday met with Štefan Füle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.

The parties discussed the prospects for developing Armenia-EU relations, NA press service informs. It was noted that a progress is achieved in the Armenia-EU negotiation process and, at the same time, they expressed a readiness to finish these talks this year.    

Also, Füle expressed his gratitude in connection with the Armenian government’s decision whereby the EU citizens can now enter Armenia without visas.  

On the same day, Abrahamyan met with President Sabine de Bethune of the Belgian Senate and President André Flahaut of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives.  

The parties underscored the prospects for developing Armenia-EU ties. 

In his turn, the NA speaker assured that Armenia has chosen the democratic path toward state-building, and the country is steadfast in continuing its reforms that meet European standards. He added that European integration is an axis of Armenia’s domestic reforms and foreign policy agenda alike.
