The oldest woman in the world has passed away. 115-year-old Koto Okubo died on January 12 in a nursing home in the city of Kavaskai, Japan.

Okubo was recognized as the oldest woman in the world, as about a month ago, on December 17, in the United States died 115-year-old Dina Manfredini. She was for 264 days older than the Japanese woman and bore the title of the oldest in the world for two weeks. The title passed to her from 116-year-old Besse Cooper, who had died on December 4.

According to ITAR-TASS, the oldest person on Earth right now is Japanese Jiroemon Kimura, he is younger than Manfredini only by 15 days. Kimura was born on April 19, 1897. For 40 years, he worked as a postman, and then retired from public service and up to the age of 90 was in peasant labor. To date, the Japanese champion has seven children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
