The leaders of EU states declared they are ready to help Greece to tackle its debt crisis, however proposed no concrete plan. EU leaders offered political but not financial support, saying Greece did not request any financial aid.
According to the Irish breakingnews.ie website, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said “we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Greece.” However, Merkel underlined that she wanted reliable information “about what Greece is actually doing”, the source quotes German Chancellor.
In his turn Greek Premier George Papandreou stated that his country is ready to take the necessary and additional measures. Speaking at a press conference after European Union summit in Brussels, Greek Premier also underlined that EU leaders conveyed a clear message to the market.
