Commemoration events devoted to the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be held on Wednesday, April 24 likewise in Turkey’s Istanbul, Izmir, Diyarbakir, Batman, Adana, Ankara, Bodrum, and Tunceli cities.

A remembrance event under the theme, “We respect the memory of the Genocide victims,” will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 19։15 (7:15pm), at Istanbul’s Taksim Square, where a statement will be read calling on Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Nearby Istanbul’s Museum of Turkish and Islamic Creations—where the Armenian intellectuals were detained before being sent to their death in 1915—a statement on the Genocide will be issued, the names of 2,300 destroyed Armenian villages will be presented and, subsequently, the event participants will visit the grave of Sevag Sahin Balikci—an Istanbul Armenian who was killed, on April 24, 2011, in a military unit while serving in the Turkish army.
