YEREVAN. – The Armavia Airline Company employees, who are demonstrating Wednesday across the Armenian Presidential Residence, could not meet with the senior airline officials.   

Instead, they received their severance pay documents from the office of Armavia—which is Armenia’s national carrier and is in the process of declaring bankruptcy—, but found out that their one-hour wage was calculated several times lower. This angered the employees, but Nana Avetisova, the head of Armavia’s Public Relations and Information Department, told the employees that they will receive their salaries no later than on June 3.      

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the former pilots, flight attendants, and aviation engineers of Armavia had informed that the company has not paid their seven months’ salary. In addition, social security payments were not made in their name ever since 2011. The deductions were made and they had received their salaries, but, now, they found out that the company had not made social security payments from 2011 to November 2012.
