YEREVAN. – Parties to the Karabakh conflict and international mediators have different perception of changes in status quo, political analyst Alexander Markarov told reporters on   Wednesday.

 “The existing status quo, having de facto certain positive elements, must be enforced de jure. The status quo can be unacceptable to the parties without de jure settlement of the conflict,” he believes.

The talks on status quo must continue and there is a real basis for this, Mrkarov added.

“The peace process must be consistent with the internal policy lines. In this contest, certain intensification in talks can be expected after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan,” Markaro said.

 The expert noted that meeting between the foreign ministers is a part of preparation for the summit.

The fact that peace process is being restored proves that the parties express readiness to continue talks and have new ideas, he concluded.
