YEREVAN. – Regional processes, from situation in Syria and up to talks on Iran, will naturally have consequences for the settlement of Karabakh conflict, political analyst Alexander Markarov told reporters on Wednesday.

“You can think of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in 2008, during which the Azerbaijani side thought that they may reap some benefits from the first days of confrontation. However, the regional processes have transformed the so-called “optimistic” scenario for Azerbaijan into a realistic one,” the analyst said.

He added that, in certain cases, the forces that are outside of the region are not ready to participate in the processes related to Nagorno-Karabakh.

“In some cases, their silence is very loud,” the expert added.
