YEREVAN. – Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia hopes that “mechanisms of mutual assistance” will be found on gas price within the framework of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership.
The government will take appropriate steps to mitigate the situation, especially for the socially vulnerable families, Arthur Baghdasaryan told reporters on Thursday.
He suggested that gas prices in other countries must be compared to make sure that in this case Armenia will be in a better position than many other countries.
It is also necessary to take into account that over last 5 years the gas price has increased in many countries, in contrast to Armenia, he added.
“We need to think more about how to strengthen the economy of the country so that increase in gas price would not have a great impact,” Baghdasaryan said.
At the same time, Secretary of the National Security Council expressed confidence that the issue is not settled and the stage of debates and decision-making is ahead.
