Armenia has improved its position in the Global Peace Index climbing from last year’s 115th place to 98th.

Global Peace Index (GPI) is measuring the relative position of nations’ and regions’ peacefulness. Countries’ peacefulness is measured on 23 indicators, including number of external and internal wars fought, relations with neighbouring countries, level of violent crime, Political instability, exports and imports of major conventional weapons and others.

As to the neighboring states, Azerbaijan is ranked in the 126th place, Georgia is 139th, Turkey – 134th and Iran – 137th.

Armenia’s scores have improved owing to improvements in relations with neighbours and lower murder rates, the report says.

Iceland is named the most peaceful country just as in previous years.
