YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) and Russia are in the same system, in term of politico-military and security aspects, and there is basically no alternative to EU integration as of yet.     

Armenian political opposition member Davit Shahnazaryan stated the aforesaid during a roundtable discussion on Thursday. 

In his view, Armenia’s opportunity to establish relations with the European Union, and by way of the Armenia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, is extremely important for the country.

But at the same time, as per the opposition member, new opportunities are opening before Armenia’s oligarchs, since now they can access the half-billion-strong European market and there will be an opportunity to sell Armenia-made products in the European market. 

“Is this not a serious impetus to have investments in Armenia, to interest the oligarchic structures, so they make industrial investments?” Shahnazaryan also asked.
