Logically, Genocide Resolution can be passed by the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, however the document might not go for a final discusstion in the Congress, Director of the Institute-Museum of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan told NEWS.am.

According to him, Turkey will certainly try to prevent adoption of the resolution, but currently Ankara has no sufficient room for maneuvers. “The issue will become a regular bargain for Ankara and Washington. U.S. will again use it for pressurizing Turkey, making Ankara to ratify the Protocols in 2010, however it seems the country will keep on blocking border opening and establishment of ties with Armenia,” Demoyan noted. He also added that resolution is more a moral than a political purport. “This document is likely to be a tribute to the memory of Genocide victims,” he concluded.
