YEREVAN. – In 2010 and 2011, Hayasi Group Company of Armenia imported Scotch whiskey alcohol, whiskey ethyl alcohol, and gin from Great Britain and Ukraine.

Company manager Poghos Shahinyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the whiskey alcohol was imported to Armenia along the lines of a joint business plan, with a Scottish partner organization, to bottle and export Scotch whiskey. Furthermore, the whiskey is exported as a Scottish beverage that was bottled in Armenia.

“We wish to continue the cooperation, but time will tell how realistic this would be,” Shahinyan noted.

In line with official statistics, 19,200 liters of whiskey—with an average customs value of 53,300 drams (approx. $128) per liter—were exported from Armenia in 2011. Whiskey is the most expensive beverage that is exported from Armenia.
