YEREVAN. – Condemnation of genocides is the best way for their prevention.
The aforementioned was stated during the talk between the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and the Greek delegation led by Mayor Yiannis Boutaris of Thessaloniki.
Welcoming the guests, the NA vice-chair expressed a conviction that such visits will give new impetus to relations between Armenia and Greece. As per Sharmazanov, the development potential of both countries is dependent on the friendship, civilizational similarities, and effective collaboration between the Armenian and the Greek people. He added that deepening interaction between Thessaloniki and Armenia’s City of Gyumri will bring a new quality to Armenian-Greek relations.
The interlocutors also spoke about the Armenian Genocide issue. In this context, they recorded that condemnation of genocides is the best way for their prevention. Also, the NA deputy speaker considered it necessary to wage a joint fight against racism, xenophobia, and fascism.
In his turn, Boutaris expressed willingness to develop the cooperation between Thessaloniki and Gyumri.
In addition, Eduard Sharmazanov and Yiannis Boutaris expressed a conviction that everything should be done to make the cooperation between Armenia and Greece become more active and productive.
