YEREVAN. – “[Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan’s decision to surrender to Vladimir Putin the customs control of Armenia’s boundaries with Artsakh [i.e., Nagorno-Karabakh,], Georgia and Iran has unfolded the phony nature of the RPA’s [i.e., Armenia’s ruling Republican Party] European People’s Party [EPP] membership.”

Political scientist and former presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan has released a statement with such content.

“Becoming a member in an authoritarian interstate unit with unchanged authorities stems from the desires of the unconstitutional forces that function in Armenia.

“What occurred in Moscow on [Tuesday,] September 3 proves that the submission of an ultimatum to all participants in the 2013 presidential elections [in Armenia] to stop the fake elections in Armenia corresponded to the Armenian people’s national and the international community’s real interests.

“I assume that those in charge of the foreign policy of the US and the European Union already realize the extent of the damage that was caused to the political consciousness of the Armenian people as a result of legitimizing the unconstitutional political forces [in Armenia].

“The position of the West toward curbing the Armenian regime’s policy against human rights is an indispensable factor in protecting the lives, health, dignity and freedoms of the participants in the civic movement [in Armenia],” Ghukasyan’s statement also reads, in particular.
