Georgia will sign the European Union (EU) Association Agreement before Fall 2014.
Georgian Deputy FM Davit Zalkaliani noted the aforesaid, during a press conference, commenting on the meeting that was held in Latvia between Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili and Polish FM Radosław Sikorski.
“Following the talk, the Polish FM informed us that after the initialing of the Association Agreement—including the tree trade [agreement]—, in the Vilnius [, Lithuania,] summit [of the Eastern Partnership to be held in November], the document will be signed in Fall 2014; that is, prior to the end of the term of EU’s current commission,” Zalkaliani said.
In addition, he drew a parallel with Ukraine which, after having initialed the document, it has been waiting for already two years to sign the document.
“The fact that [the] document [between Georgia and EU] will be signed [solely] several months after its initialing shows how important the Eastern Partnership counties—including Georgia—are for EU,” Davit Zalkaliani maintained.
