Syria is ready to hand over chemical weapons under international control due to Russia’s offer, not threats voiced by the U.S., Bashar Assad said.

In an interview with Russia 24 television, Assad said Syria will send documents to UN on handing over the chemical weapons under international community’s control.

Russian FM Sergey Lavrov made a proposal to hand over Syrian chemical weapons, thus responding to Sectary of State John Kerry’s statement on what can stop Syria attack.

Lavrov and Kerry are expected to meet for talks in Geneva on Thursday.
