YEREVAN. – The statement of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs is of declarative character and there are no prerequisites for a breakthrough in Karabakh talks, Russian political analyst told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Alexander Skakov is convinced that for real progress in talks first of all it is necessary to maintain accord among countries-mediators and impose constant pressure on the parties to reach a compromise.

“And finally, you need to involve Nagorno-Karabakh in negotiation process. Only in this case there will be progress towards the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Skakov told the agency.

The statement issued by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs after the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents said the leaders “agreed to advance negotiations toward a peaceful settlement.”

“They instructed their Foreign Ministers to continue to cooperate with the Co-Chairs to build on the work to date  with the aim of intensifying the peace process. They agreed to meet again in the months ahead.”
