YEREVAN. - The Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) Central Committee convened a plenum on Saturday.

During the event, the duties of the CPA Central Committee First Secretary were temporarily given to Second Secretary Tachat Sargsyan, who will perform these duties until the next party congress.

To note, the CPA Central Committee had earlier approved Committee First Secretary Ruben Tovmasyan’s request to relieve him of this duty.

The regular CPA congress is slated for Spring 2014, during which the new Central Committee members will be elected and, in turn, these members will elect the first and second secretaries of the committee.

Prior to the congress, however, no changes will be made in the present-day makeup of the Communist Party of Armenia Central Committee.
