Uruguay attaches importance to the development of relations with Armenia.

President German Cardoso of the House of Representatives of Uruguay noted the above-said Friday during his talk with Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, who is in Uruguay on an official visit.

In Cardoso’s conviction, interparliamentary cooperation plays an important role in the development of relations, and such visits contribute to the strengthening of friendship between Armenia and Uruguay.

Abrahamyan likewise underscored the deepening of cooperation and the collaboration between the two parliaments. He also highlighted the need to update and broaden the legal framework that is formed between the two countries.

The interlocutors reflected on regional matters, settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. They stressed that there is no alternative to a pacific resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

“Uruguay’s principled and fair approach toward a peaceful settlement of the conflict may have a significant role in the international arena,” the NA leader said, in particular.

The parties discussed several other matters of mutual interest.

At the end of the talk, Hovik Abrahamyan invited German Cardoso to an official visit to Armenia.
