YEREVAN. – The expectations from the Vilnius summit are that EU will meet with partner countries and take stock what has been achieved during the last two years, representative of EU delegation in Armenia Dirk Lorenz said in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am and Armenpress agencies.
Asked whether a document will be signed with Armenia, Lorenz recalled that a joint declaration is signed after the summit by all participants.
“For other details of the summit, I would like to ask you to wait these two days to let our political leaders decide,” said Lorenz, head of the Political, Economic, Press and Information Section.
As to Ukraine, the diplomat said EU’s position is very clear: the offer to sign Association Agreement is on the table provided there is political will on the Ukrainian side and the necessary reforms are being implemented. Dirk Lorenz noted that recent developments in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities have showed that country’s population supports EU integration.
The EU diplomat said he believes the Eastern Partnership project is successful indeed, stressing that the time after Vilnius will be very interesting as both Armenia and EU have mutual commitment to continue deepening of bilateral relations.
“Our joint task is to make it more concrete,” he emphasized.
