Members of the Government of Armenia delegation, led by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, visited the Heroes’ Square in Tbilisi, on the second day of their official trip to Georgia, and laid a wreath at the memorial.

Abrahamyan and the delegation also visited the densely Armenian-populated Avlabari (Havlabar, in Armenian) neighborhood in the Georgian capital city, and the Khojivank Armenian Pantheon, where numerous notable Armenian writers, artists, and public figures are buried, and paid tribute to them.

Next, the Armenian PM headed for the Saint Etchmiadzin Armenian Church of Tbilisi. He placed flowers to the Armenian Genocide memorial erected in the churchyard. Subsequently, Abrahamyan toured the church-affiliated education, culture and youth center, and attended the official opening of the exhibition devoted to the 190th anniversary of the Nersisian School.

In his remarks at the event, the Armenian Premier underscored the Georgian-Armenian community’s role in the development of Armenian-Georgian friendship. He noted that Armenian-Georgian cooperation is developing in a climate of mutual trust. Abrahamyan also assured that the Armenian authorities will continue making efforts to support the Armenian community of Georgia.

Subsequently, Georgian Armenians Levon Chidilyan, Zhanna Davtyan, and Karine Manukyan were awarded with the Prime Minister of Armenia Medal, and in recognition of their significant contribution to the preservation of the Armenian identity.

Separately, Anahit Bostanjyan and Maria Abulyan received medals by the Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia.
