YEREVAN. – The objective of the agreement on the liberalization of the visa regime is to foster closer ties between the citizens of Armenia and the United States (US).
The US Ambassador to Armenia, John Heffern, noted the above-said during Friday’s press conference at the US Embassy in Yerevan.
“We have reached an agreement on reciprocal liberalization of the visa regime. The [respective] process was launched last year in Washington[, DC.], during the session of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Committee,” Heffern stated.
The American diplomat added that the goal of this agreement is to boost ties and the travel in both directions, and this will benefit the two countries.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had stated at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting that the citizens of Armenia will be able to make use of the US visa facilitation procedure. He also had informed that, as of January 1, 2015, the US citizens may visit Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days.
