YEREVAN. – The chance for an up-to-180-day deferral of the payment of the value-added tax (VAT) will help in the Eurasian Union market.

Makar Petrosyan, the CEO of Armenia’s MAP Company, which produces canned vegetables and alcoholic beverages, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“If, previously, the VAT had to be paid at the border, now this can be postponed for a considerable period of time. That is, you can receive the product but wait in the payment of the VAT, leaving the money in circulation. This just might become one of the biggest benefits for us,” Petrosyan stated.

Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is expected to come into force after January 1, 2015, when the EEU will formally function.
