YEREVAN. – The international norms are prevailing in Armenia in terms of human rights.

The president of the Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia, Gagik Harutyunyan, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s press conference. The event was devoted to the tenth anniversary of the institute of the Armenian government’s authorized representative at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

As per Harutyunyan, the Constitution of Armenia stipulates that everyone has the right to apply to international tribunals for the protection of his rights.

“This means that the international norms are prevailing in Armenia in terms of the protection of human rights,” the CC chief judge stated.

Gagik Harutyunyan added that the applied legal system in Armenia very frequently reflects on the precedential decisions by the ECtHR.
