YEREVAN. – Armenia's national debt in 2015 will make 42.2 percent of GDP, Deputy Finance Minister Pavel Safaryan said.
The amount is projected given the GDP rate is 4.5 trillion AMD (at the current rate around $ 9.7 billion). Debt will increase by 0.6 percent of GDP compared with the end of 2014.
At the end of 2014, the level of public debt should reach 41.6 percent of GDP.
“From a quantitative point of view, our debt is within the Maastricht Treaty, which sets the upper limit of public debt to 60 percent of GDP. Risks should not emerge in the future because we will repay the loans in full and on time,” he said during a special session of parliament on Monday.
