The General Investigation Department of Russia has again brought charges against Russian Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan.

Accordingly, Hayrapetyan is also being charged with obtaining $700 thousand, and through fraud, from the mother of former Russian Senator Igor Izmestiev, who now serves a life sentence in prison, reported Kommersant newspaper of Russia.

According to the investigation department data, Izmestiev’s mother had given the aforementioned amount to the Armenian entrepreneur to give bribe to reduce her son’s prison term.

The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, however, had not confirmed the indictment in the criminal case brought against Hayrapetyan, and on charges of fraud, and returned the case to the Investigative Committee of Russia.

In addition, the Moscow City Court had held a hearing to consider the appeal on the extension of Hayrapetyan’s current house arrest. The court, however, had overruled this motion by the defense and kept the businessman’s house arrest in force until September 15.

Apart from the case on fraud, Levon Hayrapetyan is also charged with appropriating the shares of the Bashneft oil company of Russia.
