YEREVAN. – Even though a talk between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot be ruled out within the framework of the UN General Assembly session, it is not clear what they will discuss under the current situation.

Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, Giro Manoyan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Friday.

“I don’t see a real productive conversation between the [two] presidents if, starting from 2009, Azerbaijan is against the proposals by the OSCE Minsk Group intermediaries, [and] in an attempt to transfer the resolution of the [Karabakh] issue to other platforms,” stressed Manoyan.

In his words, Azerbaijan is continuing the same policy it was conducting before the European Games, which its capital city Baku had hosted in the summer.

“Virtually nothing was happening on the borders during that period,” recalled the ARF official. “This, by the way, shows which side actually violates the ceasefire regime.”

He added that Azerbaijan wishes to make its voice heard, so as to express dissatisfaction with the recommendations of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“Those in Azerbaijan still don’t realize that the policy of destabilization of the situation they are running is not in their own interests,” added Giro Manoyan.
