YEREVAN. – The statement by Jean Asselborn, the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg which is the current President of the Council of the European Union (EU), is rather unclear, and it contains elements incorrectness.

“European Integration” NGO Chairman, political scientist Karen Bekaryan, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday. He stated this commenting on Asselborn’s announcement that the EU is preparing new types of agreements to sign with Armenia and Belarus.

“Asselborn’s combination as to why it should be put in one package is quite incorrect,” said Bekaryan. “On the one hand, this could be the problem of the speaker, and not the process.

“And on the other hand, since the agreement has not yet been ratified, Armenia’s authorities, opposition forces, [and] citizens’ initiatives should intensify the substantial proactiveness in the European direction.”
