YEREVAN. – Even though Azerbaijan is attempting to maintain relations with both Russia and the West, it fails in its attempts to establish relations with the two sides.
Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, Giro Manoyan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.
Manoyan, responding to a query on whether the last statement by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group US Co-Chair—Ambassador James Warlick—was more constructive, stressed that Warlick’s statements are not so important.
“He [i.e. Warlick] said the use of military equipment is unacceptable, and both sides [i.e. Armenian and Azerbaijani] have used such equipment; but in general, the West—including the US—is displeased with Azerbaijan,” noted the ARF official. “This, in fact, is not so much linked to Azerbaijan’s position on Armenia and the NKR [i.e. the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic], as much as to Azerbaijan’s incorrect and wrong policy toward the West.”
Giro Manoyan argued that, perhaps, these countries do not react properly to Azerbaijan’s position toward Armenia and the NKR, but that does not mean that they agree with it.
“Despite without countermeasure operations, they contribute to the continuation of Azerbaijan’s [respective] policy,” he added.
