YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan received President of the Belgian Senate, Christine Defraigne, who is in capital city Yerevan on an official visit.

Karapetyan stressed that the Armenian government is interested in intensifying political dialogue with Belgium, making trade and economic relations become more diverse, and deepening education and cultural collaboration. The PM highlighted that the Armenian government will soon present a package of investment projects to its international partners.

Defraigne, for her part, said it is indispensable to expand bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Belgium. Also, she expressed her country’s support in the expansion of Armenia-European Union ties, and emphasized that Europe’s doors are wide open for the development and strengthening of cooperation with Armenia. 

In addition, the interlocutors underscored Brussels Airlines’—i.e. the flag carrier and largest airline of Belgium—entry to the aviation market of Armenia.

Karen Karapetyan and Christine Defraigne also reflected on the avenues for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, and the international recognition of Armenian Genocide.
