The governments of France and Great Britain have not fulfilled their obligations within the framework of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. UN is concerned that due dismantling refugee camps in Calais, children who remained without adults found themselves in rough conditions.

The UN Children's Rights Committee called on France and Britain to solve the issue of immigrants’ children who had remained without adults’ supervision as soon as possible. After the French authority had dismantled the camp, they had to sleep in freight containers or in the open air. 

" The events of the past week have shown clearly that political and other considerations prevailed over the initial promises by both Governments that the situation of unaccompanied children would be their priority. The best interests of the child have been completely disregarded,” reads the document.
